Residential design and restoration
Almond Glassworks undertakes residential projects of any scale, from a single in-situ repair to a significant feature project. As with ecclesiastical windows, new residential glass is designed and presented as 1:10 scale drawings. These can be developed by collaborating with architects, interior designers, builders and/or clients individually. These are further developed with colour to provide a clear understanding of the final product.
Victorian stained glass painting
The Mid to late Victorian era saw stained glass painting used as feature detailed panels amongst a geometric lead matrix. Any subject can be used in new reproduction windows, from fauna and flora to classical figurative imagery.
Edwardian design
The Edwardian period saw stronger influences of design movements such as Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts. Glass painting became seldom used, in its place well designed stylised foliage and flowers.
Art deco design
The Art Deco movement became largely geometric, with strong colour abandoned for clear textures, bevel features and occasional opal glass elements.
Custom design
The stained-glass medium has almost limitless options in regard to design that is not bound by a style imposed by heritage architecture. A painted scene based upon elements within the clients’ garden. A stylised vine sweeping from either end of a ceiling light feature.
